Democratic members of Congress, including representatives from Pennsylvania, have called for the removal of President Donald Trump from office following threats he made against Iran on April 7, 2026.

The calls for removal were prompted by a social media post from the president in which he stated that a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.

Lawmakers are urging the invocation of the 25th Amendment to remove the president from power. The 25th Amendment provides a process that allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unfit for office, which can lead to his removal.

Several members of Congress described the president’s language as genocidal and sickeningly evil. They cited concerns regarding the president’s fitness to lead and the potential for indiscriminate warfare.

Representative Rashida Tlaib characterized President Trump as a war criminal and stated that it’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Representative Ilhan Omar also called for action, declaring that Donald Trump must be impeached.

Other lawmakers who have urged the president’s immediate removal include Representative Summer Lee of Pennsylvania, Representative Nikema Williams, and Representative Mark Pocan.

In Pennsylvania, a congressman called for lawmakers to return to Washington to facilitate the removal of the president from office.

Democratic congressional members from Massachusetts have also joined the calls for the president’s removal over the threat to annihilate Iran.

Lawmakers stated that the president’s inflammatory rhetoric and erratic behavior represent a grave threat to human life and international stability.
