Manny Pacquiao, the legendary Filipino boxer, ‍was inducted ‍into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday ⁢in Verona, N.Y. But ‍the eight-division world champion’s career isn’t over: Pacquiao is set to ⁣return⁢ to the ring next month at‍ age 46.

Pacquiao,⁢ part of the class of 2025, will⁢ face⁣ WBC champ Mario Barrios in⁢ Las Vegas ⁤on July 19. The boxing ⁤legend, now a Hall of Famer, boasts world titles across four decades and holds the distinction of being the oldest welterweight world champion.

During his induction speech, Pacquiao reflected on his ‍historic achievement of winning⁣ titles in‌ eight weight ​classes, from ⁤flyweight to⁤ junior middleweight.⁤ He emphasized the meaning ​of his journey ‍from poverty to becoming a⁢ global icon.

“From flyweight to junior middleweight, eight divisions,” Pacquiao said. “Every fight, every victory was a step further from poverty.⁢ It was not just for me but ‍for my family,‌ for the Filipino people.”

Other notable inductees included​ Vinny Paz, a‍ three-division ​champion who overcame a broken neck, and Michael Nunn, a ⁢champion at middleweight and super middleweight. ⁢The ‌class⁣ also honored women boxers such ​as Yessica Chavez, Anne Sophie Mathis,‍ Mary Jo Sanders,⁤ and Cathy “Cat” Davis, an early pioneer who fought against sex​ discrimination to ‍obtain ​her ‍pro license.

Kenny Bayless, a⁣ referee who officiated some‌ of Pacquiao’s biggest fights, ‌was​ also enshrined, along with​ referee Harry Gibbs, cut man Al Gavin, broadcaster Randy gordon, HBO producer Ross Greenburg, and ‍late boxers Rodrigo‍ Valdez and Owen Swift.

Pacquiao retired in 2021 with a 62-8-2 record and ​39 knockouts. He served as a senator in the Philippines from ⁤2016-22 and ran ‌for president.He expressed gratitude to⁣ his fans and family‌ during‌ his Hall of Fame speech.

“This is our victory,” Pacquiao said. “This is our story, ⁤and the best is yet to come.”
