SAN DIEGO - the San Diego padres defeated the Washington Nationals 4-3 on Tuesday,thanks to Martín Maldonado’s game-tying home run and Jose Iglesias’s go-ahead RBI groundout.

The Padres’ bottom of the order contributed key RBIs in the victory against the Nationals.
Padres rookie Ryan Bergert exited in the fourth inning after Jacob Young’s 103-mph liner hit his pitching elbow. Bergert was replaced by Adrian Morejon after a trainer evaluation. Young later scored on James Wood’s groundout, giving Washington a 3-0 lead.
Wood also earned a bases-loaded walk in the second inning.
San Diego began its comeback in the fourth. Xander Bogaerts grounded out, and Jake Cronenworth doubled to drive in a run against Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams.
Maldonado then tied the game with his fourth home run of the season.
Williams walked the first two batters in the sixth, and Cole Henry loaded the bases after relieving Williams. Iglesias then grounded out, driving in what proved to be the winning run.
