Former University of Michigan football staffer Paige Shiver said she felt trapped in her relationship with ex-head coach Sherrone Moore, describing how he exerted complete control over her emotions and career during an interview that aired on “Good Morning America” on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Shiver, who served as Moore’s executive assistant, disclosed in the interview that her relationship with Moore began in 2022 when she was an intern and he was the team’s co-offensive coordinator. She stated that she became pregnant with Moore’s child during their relationship but was advised by multiple doctors and experts not to continue the pregnancy due to her diagnosis of Pompe disease, a rare genetic disorder.

“Here’s a man that had complete control over me, over my emotions, over my career, and he knew that, and he used it. He used it against me,” Shiver said in a clip shared by ESPN ahead of the full interview. She explained that every time she tried to distance herself from Moore, he would find a way to draw her back in, making her feel unable to leave because he appeared so miserable without her.

The relationship came to light after Shiver reported it to university officials, which led to an investigation and Moore’s subsequent firing on December 10, 2025. Less than an hour before his termination was finalized, Moore allegedly went to Shiver’s apartment in Ann Arbor, forced his way inside, and threatened to harm himself before leaving. Police responded to the incident, and Moore was later arrested and charged.

Moore initially faced a felony charge of third-degree home invasion related to the incident but ultimately entered a plea deal on March 6, 2026, pleading no contest to two misdemeanor counts: malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespassing. On April 14, 2026, he was sentenced to 18 months of probation with a court order prohibiting any contact with Shiver.

Shiver expressed her belief that the punishment was insufficient, stating she thought Moore should have received jail time for his actions. She also said she feared for her life during the confrontation at her apartment, calling it “the most terrifying day of my life” in a statement released by her lawyers following Moore’s sentencing.

The former staffer further alleged that Moore sent her multiple unwanted messages after she attempted to end contact and informed the university about their relationship. She claimed that coaches within the Michigan football program were aware of the relationship, though the university has not publicly confirmed these assertions.

Shiver’s interview marked her first public appearance discussing the relationship since Moore’s arrest and sentencing. She had previously only commented through legal representatives. Her decision to speak publicly came as part of her effort to share her experience and raise awareness about power imbalances in workplace relationships.
