At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, who serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, jointly led the 3rd Session of the Pakistan–Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission alongside the Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The high-level delegations convened to review existing bilateral cooperation and establish expanded frameworks for future economic and institutional engagement.
Economic and Institutional Expansion Signed in Islamabad
During the ministerial session, the two sides evaluated ongoing progress across multiple sectors and agreed to deepen collaboration in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, food security, information technology, health, education, and labor. Senator Dar emphasized the necessity of translating long-standing fraternal ties into tangible benefits for the populations of both countries. He instructed officials to ensure the effective implementation of agreed outcomes through Joint Working Groups, structured institutional partnerships, and regular follow-up mechanisms.
Representing Pakistan in the delegation were the Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division, the Secretary SIFC, the Acting Foreign Secretary, and key ministry officials. The Bahraini delegation comprised senior government officials alongside representatives from the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Senator Dar Prepares for Ministerial Commission and Meets UK Envoy
Ahead of the ministerial commission, Senator Dar chaired an inter-ministerial meeting in Islamabad to finalize preparations, where the Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division briefed him on the formal agenda and key cooperation areas, Radio Pakistan reported. Separately, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met with Senator Dar in Islamabad to discuss bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, noting positive momentum and reviewing regional security dynamics, according to Radio Pakistan. During that meeting, Senator Dar stated that easing tensions through dialogue and diplomacy remains the only viable path forward for the region.
