According to international reporting, the visit marks Munir’s third trip to Iran since Islamabad stepped into a mediation role, following an undisclosed telephone conversation between Munir and United States President Donald Trump.

Diplomatic Mission Follows Undisclosed Call With Trump

Three Pakistani sources confirmed to Reuters that Munir spoke with Trump just days before beginning his meetings in Tehran. The diplomatic push coincides with Washington preparing a new plan to tighten economic pressure on Iran and its commercial partners, according to verified reporting. Neither the White House press office nor Pakistani officials have disclosed the specific contents of the conversation between Trump and Munir. Munir traveled to the Iranian capital alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The Pakistan Army stated that the official delegation’s mission is to push for a peaceful, permanent, and comprehensive solution to ongoing regional conflicts.

Iranian Officials Reiterate Stance on Washington and Security

During his meetings in Tehran, Munir conferred with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who criticized United States policy during their discussion. Pezeshkian asserted that American bullying is complicating negotiation pathways, according to electronic newspaper reports from the region. In separate talks with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the delegation reviewed the implementation of an Islamabad-brokered memorandum of understanding. Ghalibaf stated that the United States repeatedly violated its commitments under the framework, adding that Washington’s failure to comply has prevented regional stability and eliminated trust. Ghalibaf maintained that Tehran will not alter its position under pressure and insists that Washington must fulfill its obligations. Munir also met with Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, to discuss the memorandum and the security situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Rezaei told the visiting delegation that Tehran maintains firm security management over the strait and harbors no trust in the United States, insisting that Washington must take practical steps to execute the Islamabad agreement.

Bilateral Ties and Border Security

Throughout the meetings, Munir emphasized the historical ties of brotherhood and friendship between Pakistan and Iran. According to regional coverage, Munir highlighted Islamabad’s extensive efforts to enhance security along the shared border between the two neighboring countries. Iranian state television broadcast footage of the meetings, characterizing the exchanges as friendly discussions aimed at advancing the settlement track. Pakistani officials described the latest round of talks in Tehran as a positive step toward preventing further escalation in the region.
