During a recent meeting,pakistani Minister Atabak lauded the Pakistani government’s proactive stance in fostering bilateral trade progress,emphasizing the need to convert past achievements into concrete trade outcomes. Kamal echoed these sentiments, highlighting the strong will and passion demonstrated by both governments and the private sector to collaborate.
“There’s a moment in diplomacy when the iron is hot-and this is that moment. we must act swiftly.Delays only complicate things,” Kamal stated, stressing the urgency of the current diplomatic climate. He further emphasized that Pakistan is prepared to deepen its economic relationship with Iran through established channels such as the Joint Economic Commission (JEC), regular Business-to-Business (B2B) exchanges, and sector-specific delegations.
Both ministers identified agriculture, livestock, services, energy, and cross-border logistics as priority sectors for future collaboration. They also acknowledged the important cultural and linguistic commonalities that strengthen the human element of bilateral ties between the two nations.
The ministers agreed to expedite the next JEC session, ensuring robust participation from both public and private stakeholders.A key priority will be the facilitation of border processes and trade logistics to streamline cross-border commerce. the statement concluded that with high-level political alignment and mutual trust, Pakistan and Iran are well-positioned to reshape regional trade dynamics through this strategic economic partnership.
Dar Calls on Iranian President
In a separate engagement, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, met with Iranian President Ebrahim Pezeshkian. Minister Dar conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to maintaining “brotherly ties” with Iran, rooted in shared history, culture, faith, and mutual respect.
President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support and reaffirmed Iran’s dedication to improving bilateral collaboration in areas of mutual interest. He conveyed his anticipation for productive discussions with Pakistani leadership to further solidify the political and economic bonds between the two friendly nations.
PM Shehbaz Receives President Pezeshkian at the PM House
The Iranian President’s official visit commenced with a warm reception by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the PM House in Islamabad.President Pezeshkian was accorded a guard of honor, and his itinerary included a luncheon with prime Minister Sharif, followed by high-level meetings.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar informed the media that President Asif Ali Zardari would also host President Pezeshkian for a state dinner,further underscoring the importance of the visit and the strong diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran.
