Pakistan’s facts technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITeS) sector experienced significant growth,with export receipts climbing to $2.82 billion during July-March,according to the Economic Survey 2024-25. This surge resulted in a trade surplus of $2.42 billion.
Freelancers contributed significantly, adding $400 million to the ICT exports. The survey emphasized that Pakistan’s tech-savvy youth are positioning the nation as a regional hub for digital services, tech entrepreneurship, and high-value software exports.
Substantial progress has been made in developing Pakistan’s IT human capital and industry capacity during the fiscal year.
training initiatives have equipped 6,400 professionals with advanced technologies, and certification is underway for an additional 3,400 individuals. Moreover, over 2,700 interns were placed in IT firms, achieving a 70% retention rate. Thousands more received training through soft skills and technical boot camps.
Collaboration between industry and academia resulted in the training of over 1,600 graduates and the skill assessment of 9,300 students.
The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) oversees more than 50 Software Technology Parks (STPs) and e-Rozgar centers, established through various projects, including the establishment of 25 Software Technology Parks.
