Pakistan’s Prime Minister Calls Iran’s President to Discuss Regional Tensions and Facilitate Iran–US Dialogue

Pakistan’s Prime Minister spoke by telephone with Iran’s President on April 26, 2026, to discuss the evolving regional situation between Israel and Iran, according to reports from The Hindu and other news outlets.

The call came amid heightened diplomatic activity, including an Iranian delegation’s visit to Pakistan earlier in the week and ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue between Tehran and Washington.

During the conversation, the Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirmed Islamabad’s role as an “honest facilitator” in Iran–US diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of peaceful dialogue and diplomatic engagement to de-escalate tensions in the region.

The Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Araghchi, had previously met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Chief of Defence Staff Munir before departing, as reported by Dawn.

Separately, the United States canceled planned visits by its envoys to Iran, according to the same Dawn report, adding complexity to diplomatic channels.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Iran had conveyed its negotiating demands to Islamabad ahead of the US talks, a development noted by The Times of Israel, which cited a diplomatic source.

The Pakistani Prime Minister also urged direct dialogue and diplomacy in his call with the Iranian President, a position echoed in statements reported by The Nation (Pakistan).
