Palestine Holds Strong: Brave Draw Against South Korea in World Cup Qualifiers
Palestine National Team Held to 0-0 Draw by South Korea in World Cup Qualifier
The Palestine national team was held to a 0-0 draw by South Korea in the third leg of the second group match of the Asian continent’s qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Palestinian Wissam Abu Ali almost grabbed the win in stoppage time, but he squandered a dangerous chance from the situation alone.
Goalkeeper Rami Hamada faced the home team’s attacking efforts throughout the match to draw.
The Palestinian national team thought they had taken the lead in the 22nd minute through Tamer Siam, but the goal was disallowed because his teammate Yasir Hamad was offside when he took the free kick.
The Palestinian goalkeeper saved a dangerous shot by Lee Kang-in, who curled a perfect free kick from close range in the 73rd minute.

Uday Al-Dabbagh got away with marking inside the penalty area, but he lacked accuracy when he headed home after Musab Al-Battat’s cross pass, so the ball went over the South Korean goal with 8 minutes to go.
The first- and second-place finishers in the group – which also includes Iraq, Jordan, Oman and Kuwait – automatically qualify for the World Cup finals, while the third- and fourth-place finishers advance to another round of qualifiers.
Asia has 8 guaranteed seats in the 2026 World Cup, with the possibility of an additional seat through playoffs involving teams from different continents.
