A bomb explosion at American Reproductive Centers, a Palm Springs fertility clinic, caused significant damage, but
the in vitro fertilization (IVF) lab remained intact. The blast, wich occurred last Saturday, is under
investigation by the FBI as an act of domestic terrorism.
Dr. Maher Abdallah, owner of the clinic, stood near the destroyed building and called the survival of the
fertility center’s IVF lab a “miracle.” The explosion knocked out power and damaged the backup generator,but
emergency responders ensured the thousands of frozen eggs,sperm and embryos stored in cryogenic tanks where
unharmed.
