Panda Waste, one of Ireland’s largest waste management companies, is introducing a monthly fuel surcharge of 97 cent plus VAT for all domestic customers starting in May 2026.
The company cited rising oil prices as the driver for the new fee. The monthly charge will result in an additional €12 annual cost for refuse collections for the company’s customer base, which exceeds 350,000 users.
Industry Implications
The introduction of this surcharge is being viewed as a potential signal that other firms within the waste management sector may implement similar pricing strategies to manage energy-related overheads.

This move follows a pattern of price adjustments by the company. In February 2026, Panda Recycling notified customers of price increases of up to 9pc for bin lifts, a rate that exceeded the inflation rate of 2.8pc recorded in the year ending December 2025.
The company has also implemented various charges in previous years to offset operational costs. In April 2023, Panda introduced a charge of €3.80 per bin for approximately 20 per cent of its 350,000 customers.
