Pangea Restaurant: Moves to Downtown Dallas with Expanded Menu & New Vibe

Pangea Returns to Dallas with Globally Inspired Menu

Chef Kevin Ashade is bringing his acclaimed restaurant, Pangea, back to the Dallas dining scene. The new iteration of Pangea will open its doors at 1910 Pacific Ave., Ste. 1400, in downtown Dallas at 4 p.m. On Friday, February 13th.

The original Pangea, located in Garland, closed in January 2025. This new location represents a fresh start for Ashade and his culinary vision.

Ashade, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a 2016 Beat Bobby Flay champion with his signature coq au vin, has a long history in Dallas restaurants, including stints at Craft at the W Hotel, Nana at the Hilton Anatole, and The Oceanaire Seafood Room. He also ran GourmEats catering before first opening Pangea in January 2020.

This new chapter of Pangea is described by Ashade as “elevated and globally inspired.” While retaining some of the upscale Southern flavors of the original, the menu will expand to incorporate influences from Italian, Nigerian, Japanese, French, and Caribbean cuisine. “The focus will be on a true definition of what Pangea is, with new dishes and a true cultural approach to food,” Ashade said.

Approximately half of the dishes from the original Pangea will return, including the popular jerk roasted lamb shank, stuffed salmon, and crab cakes. The menu will also feature expanded seafood options, such as a branzino plate, and additional steak cuts beyond the New York strip, filet, and ribeye previously offered. Entrees will be priced between $35 and $50, with more casual options like burgers and sandwiches also available.

A full raw and sushi bar will be a prominent feature of the new restaurant, including an omakase option starting at $85. Weekend brunch service will also be offered, featuring options like chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict, omelets, steak frites, pastry baskets, and a full coffee menu.

The 240-seat space is designed with an upscale lounge vibe, featuring warm lighting to create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. It includes a full bar, a private dining room, and a climate-controlled patio. The location is centrally located across from Pacific Plaza Park and on the same block as the Majestic Theatre.

Ashade envisions the new Pangea as a destination that transports diners. “This relocation means a better spot for us, an opportunity to be part of the business district. We want to create a vacation feel, a place that makes you feel like you are traveling in Mykonos, Tulum, or Ibiza,” he explained.

Pangea will be open for dinner seven days a week, with lunch service on Fridays and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant will remain open until 2 a.m. On weekends.
