Panthers’ Culture Fuels Stanley Cup Repeat, Bennett Wins Smythe

Updated June 18, 2025

The Florida Panthers have redefined ⁤team culture, making it the cornerstone of thier consecutive Stanley Cup ⁤championships.According ‌to Conn Smythe Trophy winner ⁤Sam Bennett, the Panthers’ ⁣culture demands a lot⁣ from each player. Bennett, ⁢who scored 15 goals in 23 ⁣games, emphasized the‍ team’s demanding style of hockey and the high expectations within the organization.

The‌ Panthers require every player to exert maximum effort on both ends of ⁤the ice, grinding down opponents relentlessly. Individual egos are⁣ set aside for the collective goal of winning, fostering a selfless commitment that has‍ become infectious throughout the team. This dedication has‌ rejuvenated both ⁣players and coaches, ‌including head‌ coach Paul Maurice.

Maurice, ‍who⁤ resigned from the Winnipeg Jets in December 2021, admitted he was ⁤”burnt out” before joining⁤ the panthers in 2022. After coaching 1,685 games and failing to win a Stanley Cup, Maurice found renewed enthusiasm in Florida. He‍ credits the Panthers’ culture for revitalizing his passion for⁣ coaching.

“Watching these guys interact with each⁣ other, that’s been the gift to this ‍place,” Maurice said. “That’s been the best‍ thing for me… It was somewhat life-altering this year, to watch the way⁢ they treat each other, and I realized I‌ could treat them the same way.”

The impact of the Panthers’ culture extends beyond Maurice. Players like Nate Schmidt, who signed a ⁢one-year‌ contract for ‍$800,000, have thrived in ⁤the team’s environment. The Florida Panthers’ commitment ⁢to culture has not only brought them success on the ice but has also transformed the careers‍ and perspectives of those ‌within the organization, solidifying their status as a dominant force in the NHL.

What’s next

Looking ahead, the panthers aim to‍ sustain their culture of excellence‌ as ⁣they pursue a third consecutive‍ stanley Cup, focusing on maintaining their high standards and selfless commitment to team success.
