EDMONTON,Alberta — The Florida Panthers are one win away from their second consecutive Stanley Cup after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 on Saturday. Brad Marchand led the charge with two goals, while Sam Bennett contributed his playoff-leading 15th goal.
With a 10-3 road record this postseason, the Panthers can clinch the Stanley Cup on Tuesday in sunrise.Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 19 of 21 shots, supported by a strong defensive effort that limited the Oilers’ scoring opportunities. The panthers’ aggressive penalty kill also stifled Edmonton’s power play, preventing Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl from establishing their rhythm.
Marchand’s offensive prowess places him alongside Mario Lemieux as the only players in the last 50 years to score five or more goals in multiple Stanley Cup Finals. His 13 career final goals lead all active players.Sam Reinhart also added a goal for Florida.
