Great Britain’s‍ Para Swimming Team Claims Four Gold Medals in Paris

Great⁣ Britain’s Para swimming team‍ enjoyed a triumphant night, clinching‌ four gold medals. The team’s success at La Defense Arena brings their⁣ total to 16 medals, including 11 golds.

Brock whiston, 27, secured ⁢her first Paralympic title in the SM8 200m individual medley. Overcoming a significant deficit, Whiston overtook ⁢Alice‌ Tai to win in ‌2​ minutes, 40.37 seconds. Tai finished third, behind Viktoriia Ishchiulova, with‍ a ‌time of 2:41.29.

Maisie‍ Summers-Newton, 22, dominated the SB6 100m breaststroke, ⁢retaining⁢ her title in a Paralympic record time of 1 ‍minute,‍ 31.30 seconds. This marks her second gold of ‍the Games, following her⁣ victory in⁤ the SM6 200m individual medley.

Grace Harvey, 26, also contributed to the gold rush, winning the SB5 ‍event in 1 minute, 42.33 seconds. Harvey surged ahead of China’s Zhang Li‍ and Ukraine’s Anna ⁢Hontar⁣ to ‌upgrade her silver medal from Tokyo 2020.

The S14 mixed 4x100m freestyle relay team, composed of William Ellard, Rhys Darbey, Poppy Maskill, and Olivia Newman-Baronius, secured the fourth gold medal of the evening, finishing⁣ ahead of Australia and Brazil.⁣ This is the second ⁣gold for both Ellard ‌and⁣ Maskill at these Paralympics.
