Paramount Global is reducing its U.S. workforce by 3.5% as part of an effort to cut costs, the company announced Tuesday.
The decision, impacting hundreds of employees, was revealed in a company-wide memo from co-ceos George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins. The executives said the move was a ”hard, but necessary step” to streamline the association.
The media company, whose holdings include paramount+, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, CBS and Paramount Pictures, is navigating “continued industry-wide linear declines and dynamic macro-economic environment, while prioritizing investments in our growing streaming business,” the co-CEOs said.

The company said it is ”committed to ensuring all impacted employees are supported with care and respect during this time.”
As of the end of 2024, Paramount Global employed approximately 18,600 people worldwide on a full-time or part-time basis. the memo indicated that some international positions may also be affected.
The latest cuts follow layoffs last year that trimmed roughly 15% of paramount’s U.S. workforce. Those earlier reductions focused on marketing, communications, finance, legal and technology departments, executives said.
