Paramount Pictures unveiled the first trailer for “Heart of the Beast” at CinemaCon on Thursday, showcasing Brad Pitt’s return to the survival thriller genre alongside director David Ayer. The footage highlights Pitt as a former Army Special Forces soldier stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with his combat dog following a plane crash, emphasizing their bond and struggle for survival against harsh elements and wildlife.
The trailer opens with Pitt reassuring his canine companion after their aircraft goes down, stating, “I’m gonna get you home,” followed by the acknowledgment that they “just going to have to do this the hard way.” A particularly tense sequence depicts Pitt attempting to prevent his dog from falling into a river, resulting in both ending up in the water. Additional scenes show the duo facing off against bears and wolves as they navigate the unforgiving terrain.
Pitt’s character declares their objective with the line, “One last mission,” adding, “I’m not going to let you die out here.” The film reunites Pitt with Ayer for the first time since their 2014 collaboration on “Fury,” where Pitt portrayed a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant commanding a Sherman tank crew during World War II.
