The NHL has seen a historic convergence of Czech talent as Martin Necas and David Pastrnak both reached the 100-point milestone during the 2025-26 regular season. Necas achieved the feat on April 15, 2026, becoming only the third player from Czechia to reach a century of points in a single season, joining the ranks of Jaromir Jagr and David Pastrnak.
Necas, a 24-year-old forward for the Colorado Avalanche, recorded the milestone assist in the final minutes of a game against the Calgary Flames. The achievement came with only 17 seconds remaining in the contest, which was likely his final appearance of the regular season.
Necas’ Historic Season
The native of Nove Mesto na Morave finished the game with a total of 38 goals and 62 assists across 78 games played. His performance contributed to a 3-1 victory for the Avalanche over the Flames, a game in which Necas also led his team with five shots on goal.
Other goal scorers for Colorado in the victory included Nathan MacKinnon, Gabe Landeskog, and Artturi Lehkonen. Cale Makar returned to the lineup and provided three assists.
This 100-point campaign marks the first time in Necas’ career that he has reached this elite threshold. His ascent into the century-club
cements his position as one of the league’s premier young talents and highlights the continued growth of hockey talent emerging from Czechia.
Pastrnak’s Continued Dominance
While Necas celebrates his first 100-point season, David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins continues to set a high standard for consistency. On April 7, 2026, Pastrnak recorded his 100th point of the season via a primary assist on a goal by linemate Morgan Geekie during a game against the Carolina Hurricanes at the Lenovo Center.
This achievement marks the fourth consecutive season that Pastrnak has reached at least 100 points. This streak places him in an exclusive group of only 17 players in the history of the NHL to accomplish four straight 100-point seasons.
Within the Boston Bruins organization, Pastrnak is now joined on this exclusive list by legends Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito. Esposito previously achieved the mark five times consecutively between 1970 and 1975, while Orr’s streak began one year prior to Esposito’s and ended in the same year.
Pastrnak’s achievement is the first time in more than 50 seasons—since 1975—that a player has managed to string together four such seasons, a feat not even reached by Sidney Crosby or Alexander Ovechkin.
Czech Legacy in the NHL
The combined success of Necas and Pastrnak underscores the significant impact of Czech players on the modern game. Jaromir Jagr remains a cornerstone of this legacy, having surpassed the 100-point mark five times during his career.
The simultaneous arrival of two Czech players at the 100-point mark in a single year is a rare occurrence that elevates both players into the upper echelon of NHL history.
Looking Ahead
The Colorado Avalanche have one remaining game in the regular season before the start of the playoffs. They are scheduled to host the Seattle Kraken at Ball Arena on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
