Patrick Wilson was initially cast as Jim Paxton in Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” but scheduling conflicts arose after Edgar Wright’s departure as director, leading to Wilson leaving the project. the first “Ant-Man” movie, eventually directed by Peyton Reed and starring Paul Rudd, faced creative hurdles during its development.
Wright had been attached to “Ant-Man” as 2003, developing the script with Joe Cornish. He intended to direct after completing “The World’s End.” The cast included Rudd, Michael Douglas, michael Peña, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, and Wilson. Though, Wright’s vision diverged from Marvel’s established aesthetic, resulting in his exit and subsequent script revisions by Adam McKay and Rudd.
