Pattaya Hairdresser Speaks Out After Alleged Harassment by Japanese Tourists
Pattaya, Thailand – A local hairdresser in pattaya is seeking justice after an unsettling incident involving a group of Japanese tourists at her salon. Kanokkarn, 34, alleges that three men in a group of four sexually harassed her while she was providing a haircut to their friend. The incident, captured on CCTV, has sparked outrage online and prompted kanokkarn to file a police complaint.
According to Kanokkarn, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 19th, at approximately 1:58 PM at her salon on Soi pattaya 13/2.The CCTV footage shows Kanokkarn attending to a Japanese man while his three companions sat behind her. The men can be seen pointing at her skirt before two of them reached out and lifted it.
“I was shocked and angry,” Kanokkarn told Channel 7 in an interview.”But I had to remain calm as I was still working on a customer.”
After finishing the haircut, Kanokkarn confronted the group, expressing her outrage and explaining that their actions were disrespectful to Thai women. While one of the men offered an apology, Kanokkarn says the group showed no real remorse. They paid 350 baht for the haircut and left the salon.
Adding insult to injury, Kanokkarn claims the group also made offensive comments towards a transgender client who was present at the salon.
The CCTV footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation from Thai netizens. Many have labeled the tourists’ behavior as “rude,” “disgraceful,” and “disrespectful to Thai women,” with some describing them as “low-quality tourists with no manners.”
Kanokkarn stated that she has never experienced such behavior before and confirmed that this was the first time she had been harassed by foreign tourists in her salon.
Driven by a desire to prevent similar incidents from happening to other women, Kanokkarn is currently filing a police complaint at the Mueang Pattaya Police Station. She hopes that by coming forward, she can raise awareness about the importance of respecting Thai culture and women.
