Floyd “kid Austin” Schofield and Tevin Farmer will square off in a 10-round lightweight contest June 28 in Anaheim,Calif., as part of the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. undercard,Most Valuable Promotions announced.
Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs), 22, had been slated to challenge Shakur Stevenson for the WBC lightweight title in February but withdrew due to illness. He now faces a seasoned former IBF super featherweight champion in Farmer.
“Sharing the ring with former world champ Tevin Farmer is a huge opportunity for me to silence those who doubt me and my skills, and I know that I will come out with the win,” Schofield said.
Farmer (33-8-1, 8 KOs), 34, seeks to rebound from recent losses to William Zepeda. He is steadfast to hand “Kid Austin” his frist defeat.
“Kid Austin’s about to learn — my skills are different than anything he’s ever seen,” said Farmer. “I’m knocking him out to teach him a lesson.”
Also on the pay-per-view card, Raul Curiel (15-0-1, 13 KOs) will meet Victor Ezequiel Rodriguez (16-0-1, 9 KOs) in welterweight action. Avious Griffin (17-0,16 KOs) will face Julian Rodriguez (23-1,14 KOs).
Curiel, fighting out of Ciudad Madero, Mexico, returns to the ring for the first time as his majority draw against Alexis Rocha in December.
griffin,trained by Brian “BoMac” McIntyre,who also trains Stevenson,Terence Crawford and Keyshawn Davis,fights out of Las vegas by way of Chattanooga,Tenn.He has won his past 10 fights by knockout.
julian Rodriguez, an alternate for the 2012 Olympics, is known for defeating Gervonta Davis twice as an amateur. He has been relatively inactive since 2021.
Rounding out the preliminary card, MVP’s Naomy Valle (14-0, 9 KOs) will take on Ashley Felix (7-3, 1 KO) in a six-round light flyweight bout.
