Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have released their first-ever formal duet, a track titled Home To Us, which became available on May 8, 2026. The collaboration marks a significant milestone for the two surviving members of The Beatles, who have not recorded a duet of this nature previously.
The song serves as the second release from McCartney’s upcoming studio album, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, which is scheduled for release on May 29, 2026. This follows the debut of the album’s lead single, Days We Left Behind.
The existence of the collaboration was confirmed by McCartney during a special fan playback event held at Abbey Road on May 5, 2026. During the event, McCartney played the full album for 50 attendees and verified reports that Starr appeared on the record as a guest drummer and vocalist.
Production and Collaboration
Produced by Andrew Watt, Home To Us features a production style reminiscent of McCartney’s 1970 solo debut, McCartney, as he performed the majority of the instruments on the track himself.

In addition to the partnership between the two Beatles icons, the song includes guest vocals from Sharleen Spiteri and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. Hynde and Spiteri provide ethereal harmonies that support the track’s uplifting chorus.
The song’s lyrical content focuses on the childhood experiences of both artists in Liverpool. The opening verse reflects on the modest nature of their early homes, with the pair singing that while the environment wasn’t much and could be perceived as rough, it was home to us.
In the chorus, McCartney describes the instability of the surrounding area, noting that the world around us wasn’t safe and the place was falling down, yet maintaining a sense of affection for his hometown.

Ringo went round to the studio and drummed a bit. I said to Andrew, we should make a track and send it to him. So this song is done totally with Ringo in mind… In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us.
Paul McCartney
McCartney explained that the duet evolved after Starr initially sent back a version featuring only a few lines in the chorus. Upon learning that Starr believed he was only required for a small part, McCartney encouraged him to sing the entire song, resulting in a structure where the two artists alternate lines.
Context of The Boys Of Dungeon Lane
The Boys Of Dungeon Lane is McCartney’s first full-length album since the 2020 release of McCartney III. The project is described as his most introspective work to date, centering on previously unshared memories of his formative years in Liverpool.
The record is expected to be a candid and reflective exploration of McCartney’s early life. This includes writings on the resilience of his parents and his early friendship and adventures with John Lennon and George Harrison before the onset of Beatlemania.
This collaboration is the first time the two surviving Beatles have worked together since 2023, when they contributed to the standalone track Now And Then. That project utilized a vocal recording of John Lennon from 1994 and was marketed as the final song by the original group.
Ringo Starr’s Recent Activity
The collaboration with McCartney follows the release of Ringo Starr’s 22nd solo album, Long Long Road, which arrived on April 24, 2026, via UMe.
Produced by T-Bone Burnett, Long Long Road features a variety of guest musicians and vocalists, including Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, and St. Vincent.
Everyone on there brings something different because they’re all great players and singers. They’re great musicians who have been at it a while, and they all came through T Bone. In my eyes, he’s never made a mistake on my records.
