Paul McCartney says he was blown away by Celine Dion in High in the Clouds

British musician Paul McCartney shared his enthusiasm for Celine Dion’s participation in his upcoming animated film High in the Clouds, stating in an Instagram post that he was blown away after listening to some of her performances for the project.

McCartney expressed his happiness over the positive reactions accompanying Celine Dion’s return to the stage in Paris, before highlighting her involvement in the animated movie. He noted that he had listened to some of her performance and felt blown away, adding, What a talent. McCartney stated that the crew is so lucky to have her involved and mentioned that he is looking forward to audiences seeing the film soon. He also shared photos of himself with the Canadian singer, which are believed to have been taken during recording sessions for the work.

McCartney Adapts Children's Book into Animated Feature

The animated feature is adapted from the children’s book High In The Clouds, which McCartney co-authored with Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh. The plot follows a teenage squirrel named Wirral who embarks on an adventure to restore music to a world where it has been banned, following a confrontation with an owl named Gretsch.

Celine Dion voices the character Sugartail in the movie, while Paul McCartney voices the character McKenzie. The voice cast also features Himesh Patel, Hannah Waddingham, Idris Elba, Lionel Richie, and Ringo Starr. McCartney is writing the original songs for the film, and Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino is scoring the soundtrack. The release of High in the Clouds is scheduled for the summer of 2027.

Recent Performances and Return to the Stage

Dion’s involvement in the film follows her recent return to the stage in Paris earlier in the month, marking her first live concert performance since 2020 when she performed in New Jersey before the COVID-19 pandemic halted her tour. She was previously diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022.

In addition to her musical return, Dion delivered a singing performance during the closing of L’Oréal’s annual event, wearing a long black velvet dress with gathered details before being joined on the runway by brand ambassadors including Viola Davis, Aishwarya Rai, Simone Ashley, Yasmine Sabri, Serenay Sarikaya, Aja Naomi King, and Eva Longoria.

Reflecting on the enthusiasm surrounding her return and her participation in the upcoming project, McCartney shared his excitement directly with the public, writing: I can’t wait to share the work with the world.
