Paul Munster Demands PSSI Investigation into Semen Padang vs Persebaya Match
Persebaya Coach Demands Investigation after Controversial Refereeing Decisions
Padang,Indonesia - Persebaya Surabaya coach Paul Munster has called for a full investigation by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) following a series of controversial refereeing decisions during their 0-0 draw against Semen Padang on Sunday.
The match, played at the H Agus Salim Stadium, was marred by a red card shown to persebaya defender Ardi Idrus in the 67th minute. The referee, aided by VAR (Video Assistant Referee), deemed Idrus’s contact with semen Padang’s Gala Pagamo to be intentional.
However, the controversy escalated when the match commissioner allegedly prevented two Persebaya substitutes, Riswan Lauhin and Kasim Botan, from entering the field. The commissioner claimed the players where not listed on the official team sheet, despite both names being announced before the match and confirmed during pre-game checks.
“There are serious questions that need to be answered about the match commissioner,” Munster stated in a post-match press conference. ”For 10 minutes, Persebaya tried to make substitutions with Riswan and Kasim. I saw their names were not on the paper (team sheet).”
This administrative error, Munster argued, considerably disrupted his tactical plans. “We played 25 minutes with 10 men in the second half, plus another 10 minutes due to the substitution delay. That’s a total of 35 minutes with 10 men. I want a full investigation from PSSI. I want a full report on this match.”
The incident has sparked outrage among Persebaya fans, who are demanding accountability from the PSSI.Munster’s call for a thorough investigation highlights the need for transparency and professionalism in Indonesian football.
