Paws and Claws Unite: Hangzhou’s Furry Friends Enjoy a Moonlit Feast on Mid-Autumn Festival Night
Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations at Hangzhou Wildlife World
September 17th marks the Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. To celebrate this special occasion, Hangzhou Wildlife World prepared a unique Mid-Autumn Festival dinner for the animals, allowing them to join in the festivities with their human friends.
Giant Panda Lili and Banban: A Face-Giving Ceremony for the Keepers
The pandas Lili and Banban were still recovering from false pregnancy, but they were excited about the feast prepared by the keepers. The keepers carefully selected ingredients suitable for the pandas and used mooncake molds to create delicious and beautiful “mooncakes” from steamed bread. Lili was drawn to the big plate of food, and Banban chose the big red apple among bamboo shoots, carrots, and “mooncakes.”
Orangutan Edamame: Storm Inhalation
This was the first Mid-Autumn Festival that the orangutan Maodou spent in Hangye. The keepers prepared a customized “moon cake” for him, with a recipe that included red dates and peanuts, making it suitable for orangutans. Maodou’s Mid-Autumn Festival dinner also featured many green vegetables and his favorite sweet fruits. According to feedback from the scene, Maodou seemed to enjoy this dinner very much, happily eating a moon cake and apple strips.
Parrot: I love mooncakes but I love corn even more
The parrots received Mid-Autumn Festival benefits, including mooncakes and their favorite corn. The blue-and-yellow macaws grabbed their “Mid-Autumn Festival benefits” snack from the basket and ate the “mooncakes” while fluttering their wings on the ground. The sun parrots and scarlet macaws preferred corn, symbolically pecking at the “mooncakes” before focusing on the corn.
Golden Tiger Golden Retriever: Meat mooncakes are the best
Jinhu Jinmaorui, the new “top star” in Hangye, enjoyed a special Mid-Autumn Festival welfare. The keeper prepared exquisite pure meat mooncakes for Jinmaorui, placing them on a large banana leaf with white and tender chicken breast. Jinmaorui was delighted, immediately coming over to ”eat broadcast” when he smelled the meat, and his enthusiastic eating attracted many tourists’ praise.
