Paws for a Cause: Join the Ultimate Dog Walking Test Event – Get Ready to Unleash the Fun
Hamamatsu Dog and Walk Association
Self-Introduction
Thank you for visiting our page. We are the Hamamatsu Dog and Walk Association.
The Hamamatsu Dog and Walk Association aims to promote happy coexistence between dogs and citizens, improve the manners of dogs and owners through walks, reduce the number of protected animals by living and raising dogs properly, build a community among dog owners, contribute to society, and beautify parks.
Our Goal
Our ultimate goal is to make our city the only designated city with a public dog run and disaster prevention park where pets are allowed, where no one is in charge of management, and where users can observe proper etiquette and manage their own pet-friendly park.
Upcoming Events
We are planning to hold walking test events twice a year in the future, as well as walking rallies in collaboration with other dog events and dog trainer demonstrations.
We are planning to hold the first Dog Walking Certification Exam event in November of this year.
What Prompted Us to Launch This Project?
Hamamatsu City is the city with the most dog owners among all ordinance-designated cities.
However, because of a small number of ill-mannered pet owners, park staff continue to complain that they want to ban dogs from parks that currently allow entry to dogs.
Furthermore, on average nationwide, only about 10% of pet owners receive dog training, and social rules and manners are still not universal, so the problem is that they are often “personal household rules.”
Providing the Joy of Walking to All Dogs
The first initiative of Hamamatsu-san, also known as the Osanpo Association, is to “provide walks in parks that all residents can enjoy, both dog owners and non-dog owners.”
We would like to spread the word about the correct way to walk and deal with dogs to both dog owners and non-dog owners.

Project Outlook and Vision
We want our town to be a place where both dog owners and non-owners understand how to deal with dogs, a place where there are no dog-related issues, and a place that can be entrusted with leadership as a dog-advanced town in Japan.
In the future, we plan to hold similar testing events in the spring and autumn when the weather is nice, with the aim of improving dog manners.
