Paws for the Planet: Dog and Cat Life Slashes CO2 Emissions by 4 Tons Annually with Sustainable Warehouse Move and Eco-Friendly Packaging Overhaul
Dog and Cat Life Cuts CO2 Emissions by 4 Tons per Year
Inu Neko Seikatsu, a leading manufacturer and e-commerce company of pet food and other products, has successfully reduced its CO2 emissions in its supply chain by approximately 4 tons per year.
The company’s strategic relocation of its logistics warehouse to Toyama Prefecture in July 2024 has significantly shortened the transportation distance from its dry food manufacturing plant in Ishikawa Prefecture. This move is expected to decrease CO2 emissions by 56% compared to 2023, resulting in a reduction of 3.4 tons.
President Sato emphasized the benefits of the relocation, stating, “In addition to being close to the plant, the good access to Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai was also a deciding factor for the relocation.” This strategic move not only reduces the company’s carbon footprint but also enhances its logistical efficiency.
In conjunction with the warehouse relocation, the company has also implemented changes to its packaging materials. By eliminating waste and adopting a more compact design, the company has improved loading efficiency and expects to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 0.7 tons per year.
President Sato highlighted the dual benefits of the company’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, stating, “Our initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions will also lead to cost reductions for our company. While we have previously focused on sales, we plan to increase our profit margins from this fiscal year onwards.”
