A bizarre incident in Hunan, China has gone viral on the internet, showing a dog accidentally driving a car and hitting a person. The incident occurred on the evening of September 18 in Shaodong City, Shaoyang, Hunan.
A video of the incident shows a small truck parked in an open space with a Labrador pet dog lying on the steering wheel in the driver’s seat. Many people gathered outside the car, taking pictures of the puppy with their mobile phones. The dog seemed confused, looking at the crowd.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver had locked the dog in the car while going shopping. However, the dog managed to release the handbrake, causing the car to roll down and hit a night snack stall. A child was hit and taken to the hospital, but fortunately, the injuries were not serious.
The owner of the night snack stall described the scene, saying that the stall was set up behind the parking space for the car. The small truck suddenly slid down, with no one in the car, and the dog was still inside. The stall owner’s child was scratched on the chest but only suffered a minor soft tissue contusion.
The dog’s owner has been cooperative and has taken responsibility for the incident. The local traffic police have responded, stating that the driver forgot to pull the handbrake, causing the car to slip and hit the child.
The incident has sparked a mix of amusement and concern among netizens, with many joking about the dog’s driving skills. One netizen commented, “Dog: I tried my best! I have no power and I can’t turn the steering wheel.” Another joked, “Gouzi: It’s over, it’s over. I haven’t passed the driving test yet.”
While the incident is unfortunate, it serves as a reminder to always ensure that vehicles are properly secured and that pets are not left unattended in cars.
