Chile’s Police of Investigations (PDI) detained six individuals and seized drugs valued at more than $80 million in an operation conducted in Puente Alto on April 25, 2026.
The operation, carried out by the Puente Alto Criminal Investigation Brigade, resulted in the confiscation of narcotics including cocaine and marijuana, with authorities confirming the total value of the seized substances exceeded 80 million Chilean pesos.
Six suspects were taken into custody during the raids, which targeted locations linked to drug storage and distribution activities in the Volcán 3 and Los Canales area of the Metropolitan Region.
PDI officials stated that the investigation had been underway for several months, involving surveillance and intelligence gathering that led to the identification of properties used for storing and preparing illicit substances.
Among the items recovered during the allanamientos were significant quantities of cocaine base paste, processed cocaine, and cannabis, along with paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking operations.
The seized drugs were formally logged and transferred to judicial custody as evidence for the ongoing prosecution of the detained individuals.
Subprefect Carlos Guerra, who leads the Puente Alto Criminal Investigation Brigade, confirmed the operation’s success in dismantling a local drug network that had been supplying various communes in the southern sector of Santiago.
Authorities emphasized that the operation forms part of a broader national strategy to combat micro-trafficking and organized crime in urban centers, particularly in the Metropolitan Region where Puente Alto has been identified as a focal point for drug-related activities.
The detained individuals are expected to face formal charges related to illicit drug association, trafficking, and possession, with the case to be processed through the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office.
No firearms were reported seized during the operation, and no injuries were sustained by officers or civilians during the execution of the warrants.
