Alan Peacock, a Middlesbrough FC football legend and former England international, has died at 87. He passed away last weekend after a nearly four-year battle with dementia.
Peacock’s diagnosis of dementia was announced in August 2021. The forward was a key player for Middlesbrough during a 10-year period,from 1954 to 1964,scoring 141 goals in 238 appearances. His contributions cemented his status as a Middlesbrough football club legend.
After leaving Middlesbrough, Peacock joined Leeds United, where he helped the team achieve promotion during the 1964-65 season. Despite injuries,he scored 38 goals in 79 appearances over four seasons. His football career concluded at Plymouth Argyle during the 1967-68 season,after which injuries forced his retirement. He then returned to his hometown of Ormesby to run a newsagent.
