Pecci Case: 4 Suspects Linked to Prosecutor’s Murder
UNIDAD INVESTIGATIVA – CARACOL RADIO
The Investigative Unit of Caracol Radio reveals the files that remained hidden for years in the file of the crime of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, which occured in May 2022 on the beaches of Barú (Cartagena). In dozens of documents the names of other involved parties appear, who, despite having been denounced by the hitmen, remain unpunished today.
among the various pieces of evidence obtained by Caracol Radio are interrogations, forensic extractions, requests for documentation, in which it can be seen that there are accomplices whom justice never investigated and who currently continue on the street as if nothing happened.
In the interrogations given by confessed hitmen Eiverson Arrieta Zabaleta and Wendre Stil Carrillo on june 15, 2022, along wiht the extraction report from the cell phone of the murdered witness
To carry out the murder of prosecutor Pecci, the woman accompanied Gabriel Salinas, one of the hitmen.
“In the other Jet sky Gabriel went with the girl who arrived in the early hours, who I think was called Rosmary, I’m not sure.We were there near the hotel, but we never passed the buoy; we were there recognizing the place and, so to speak, practicing on the Jet Skis as the idea from the beginning was that Gabriel was the one who was going to kill the man,” affirmed Eiverson Zabaleta.
Additionally, as part of this complicity, Rosmary was aware of the first failed attempt by the hitmen, when they tried to kill prosecutor Pecci on May 9,2022,in the afternoon, but the plan failed.
“Gabriel receives a call telling him that the man was on the beach and that it had to be done now, so I saw Gabriel, Wendre and Julio leave the cabins in a hurry, I saw them running towards the beach, but I didn’t no what was happening at that moment, I went and approached Rosmary and asked her what was happening, where they were running to and she told me they were going to go around, that Gabriel had received a call and had informed him that the man (prosecutor Pecci) was already there on the beach.”
EL ‘CHINO’
Another of the missing links in this murder that shook the foundations of the fight against organized crime is a man identified by the alias ‘El Chino’, whose whereabouts are currently unknown. His name was mentioned by Franciso Luis Correa in an interrogation.
Sources in the Paraguayan Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that ‘El Chino‘ disappeared from the examination and they are concerned there because they believe there is no progress in relation to this person, who would have had direct contact with the “narco-brothers” Pérez Hoyos.
Frank David Abreu alias ‘Frank’ and the $300 million
According to the testimonies given by the convicted
A key figure in the assassination of the prosecutor revealed a potential bribe paid to a police officer. The officer allegedly accessed the system irregularly to review background checks after the murder, monitoring the progress of the investigation.
A report obtained by Caracol Radio’s Investigative Unit shows the officer was contacted and received payments of around $500. “I’m sending it, I’m sending you the proof of payment, I’ll give you 500, but tell me promptly if you need anything else, I’m willing to help,” a message reads.
Correa Galeano, identified as a central figure in the crime, specifically requested that Officer John Pulido keep him informed about any background checks or developments, stating he was afraid. he also suggested meeting for lunch to discuss a “business” opportunity that would provide the officer with “monthly or bi-monthly payments” from certain stores.
