Fatal Train Strike Disrupts Metra Service in Oak Park
Oak Park, IL – A pedestrian was tragically killed Sunday afternoon after being struck by a Union Pacific-West Metra train in Oak Park, causing significant disruptions to the UP-W line.
The incident occurred around 2:56 p.m. as an outbound train headed to Elburn approached the Oak Park station.”We can confirm that an outbound UP-W train struck a pedestrian at approximately 2:56 p.m. today,” a Metra spokesperson said. “The identity of the individual has not yet been released.”
The collision instantly halted service on the UP-W line, leading to numerous delays for commuters. metra officials quickly took to social media to inform passengers of the situation and provide alternative travel options.
