Direct Accusations and Questions to the President
Danko directly confronted the President with a series of pointed questions, framed as accusations of dishonesty. He questioned whether she had lied about his alleged involvement in securing the appointment of a minister, the size of her budget, and potential connections to business interests within the healthcare sector. The full exchange, as reported, was: “What did I lie? I lied to that you did not take the minister? I lie in that you have a big budget? I deceive that you have a link to business circles in health care? President?”
Criticism of Planned meeting on Consolidation Package
Čaputová announced a meeting with Prime Minister Robert Fico and Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (both from the Smer-SD party) to discuss the consolidation package. Danko expressed disbelief at the President’s intention to inquire about where savings would be made. He stated, ”I don’t understand where you take, the president, the insolence that you are going to ask where they will save? And where will you save?” this suggests a disagreement over the President’s role in the budgetary process and a perceived overreach of her authority.
Radačovský’s Ambassadorial Appointment
Danko indicated he would not intervene in the President’s decision regarding the appointment of Miroslav Radačovský,a non-attached member of the national Council of the Slovak Republic,as Ambassador to Cyprus. He simply stated, “Let him decide as he wants,” signaling a willingness to allow the President to exercise her prerogative in this matter.
Claims of Past Manipulation
Danko accused the President of using the SNS and the CIS (likely referring to the Christian Democratic Movement – KDH) in 2018 to form the current government, only to leave them with nothing in return. He asserted, “I want people to see what you really are, as we already know in the coalition how you used us and used the CIS in 2018 to form this government. But what did you actually leave people?” This suggests a feeling of betrayal and a desire to expose what he believes to be the President’s manipulative tactics.
