Penang Grandmother Wins Over $13 Million Lottery Prize
A 72-year-old housewife from Penang, Malaysia, has won a life-changing lottery prize of RM40.29 million (approximately $13 million USD) in the Supreme Toto 6/58 draw, according to reports surfacing on .
The woman, who has been purchasing lottery tickets since the 1980s, purchased the winning System 10 Lucky Pick ticket on , during a routine grocery trip to a shop in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. The ticket cost RM420.
The winning numbers were 19, 29, 32, 39, 40, and 54. Upon checking her ticket in the early hours of the morning, she discovered she had matched all six numbers. “When I checked the numbers one by one and realised they all matched, I could hardly believe it,” she shared, adding that she was so excited she couldn’t sleep, but remains grateful.
Her total winnings amounted to RM40,120,690.20 from the jackpot, plus an additional RM173,152 as a System Play bonus, bringing the grand total to over RM40.29 million. This represents one of the largest lottery wins in Malaysia’s recent history.
The grandmother and her husband traveled to Kuala Lumpur to claim the prize. According to her husband, they are thankful for the “big ang pow” before Chinese New Year and plan to share some of the winnings with their family while saving the rest for long-term financial stability.
Despite the substantial sum, the couple intends to maintain a simple lifestyle. “We do not have any big plans as my wife only plays the game for fun,” the husband reportedly said. The woman herself stated she will continue living a simple life.
