CALEDON, ontario — Nick Taylor, Taylor Pendrith, and Mackenzie Hughes, grouped together by the PGA Tour for the opening rounds of the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto at osprey Valley, delivered stellar performances despite the rainy conditions. Pendrith finished the morning wave tied for the lead, while Taylor trailed by a single stroke. Hughes carded an eagle on the par-4 5th hole, en route to a 2-under 68.
Pendrith, alex Smalley, and Paul Peterson were tied at the top as the afternoon wave began. The wet whether, with nearly an inch of overnight rain, softened the greens, requiring players to carefully manage ball spin.
Taylor, building on a recent fourth-place finish at the Memorial Tournament, credited his improved putting to work with coach Gareth Raflewski.
