Penn Jillette Speaks Out: Enjoyed Working with Trump but Now on His Hate List | Ents & Arts News

December 1, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

Penn Jillette, a magician from the duo Penn & Teller, believes he is on Donald Trump’s enemies list. He mentioned that Trump feels betrayed by him, particularly due to a joke he made about Trump’s hair. Jillette was quoted in the New York Times regarding his alleged place on this list, where Trump has promised to take action against those he dislikes.

Jillette’s infamous comment describes Trump’s hair as “like cotton candy made of piss.” He does not regret this statement, asserting that it accurately reflects his opinion.

The duo gained fame in the mid-1980s and enjoyed a successful career in entertainment, appearing on various TV shows and even competing on “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2012. Jillette stated he enjoyed working with Trump in that context but believes this was misunderstood by Trump.

Despite their past collaboration, Jillette has strong criticisms of Trump, labeling him as “incompetent” and “stupid.” He also regrets referring to Trump as “Mr. Trump” during filming, noting it came off as disrespectful on camera.

Trump has not held back in his disapproval of Jillette, calling him a “sad” and “boring guy.” Jillette humorously mentioned that he wouldn’t support Teller for president either, but believes Teller would perform better than Trump if given the chance.

Although they have performed thousands of shows together, Jillette claims he and Teller have a relationship based on intellectual collaboration rather than affection. He acknowledges their friendship but admits they do not socialize outside of work.

Throughout their career, Jillette has shifted his perspective on certain routines. He has decided to drop the bullet catch trick and a disappearing flag trick due to their implications regarding gun violence and political symbolism.

Jillette expressed a fondness for England and mentions familiarity with King Charles, reflecting on their shared past. He jokes about seeking asylum in England due to his position on Trump’s enemies list.

Penn & Teller will continue to perform together, with shows scheduled until 2026. Jillette humorously stated they plan to “die in office.” They will soon bring their act to London from September 13 to September 24, 2024.
