PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A former special education teacher in Chester County is facing multiple charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with a student, authorities announced Friday.
Michelle Mercogliano, 35, of Phoenixville, is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student from Conestoga High School, according to the Chester County Prosecutor’s Office and Tredyffrin Township Police Department.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged relationship involved approximately a dozen instances of sexual contact since February. Thes encounters reportedly occurred at various locations, including the student’s home in Malvern. The complaint also alleges Mercogliano provided the student with medicinal marijuana on about 15 occasions.
Authorities say the communication between Mercogliano and the student occurred via Snapchat and text messages. Mercogliano allegedly took the student to a dispensary and purchased medicinal marijuana for him.
