Pepper Prices Plummet in Southeast Region
Pepper prices in the Southeast region have experienced a sharp decline, with key growing areas witnessing a drop of 2,500 – 3,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day. The current trading price ranges from 149,500 – 150,000 VND/kg, with the highest purchase price recorded in the provinces of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc, and Dak Nong at 150,000 VND/kg.
The price of Dak Lak pepper has decreased to 150,000 VND/kg, marking a 3,000 VND/kg drop compared to the previous day. Similarly, the price of Chu Se pepper in Gia Lai has fallen to 149,500 VND/kg, down 2,500 VND/kg from the previous day. Dak Nong pepper prices have also declined to 150,000 VND/kg, representing a 3,000 VND/kg decrease.
In the Southeast region, pepper prices have decreased by 3,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day. Specifically, Binh Phuoc has witnessed a decline to 150,000 VND/kg, down 3,000 VND/kg from the previous day. Ba Ria – Vung Tau has also experienced a decrease to 150,000 VND/kg, down 2,500 VND/kg from the previous day.
Following a five-day streak of increases, pepper prices have turned downward, fluctuating within the range of 149,500 – 150,000 VND/kg. The highest price of 150,000 VND/kg has been recorded in the pepper-growing areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Binh Phuoc.
According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), the global pepper market has been impacted by the El Nino phenomenon, resulting in limited supply. In the long term, the next 3-5 years are expected to see a shortage in pepper production, failing to meet the world’s pepper consumption demand.
