Former President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, Laid to Rest in State Funeral
This weekend, the funeral ceremony of the former president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, took place after he passed away due to cancer.
In a solemn state funeral, the former president who was in power for a decade between 1990 and 2000 and was also found guilty of crimes against humanity, was buried in the Huachipa cemetery in the city of Lima.
The President of the Republic, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, received the funeral procession of the former head of state, Alberto Fujimori Fujimori, and they gave him the honors after his death.

At the funeral, former congressman Kenji Fujimori stated, “It will never die. For my father’s opponents, Chino will never die.” He also thanked former president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski for pardoning his father in 2017.
Keiko Fujimori emphasized that her father “ended the terminal illness that affected Peru,” referring to hyperinflation which affected the country. She added, “Papito, the Peruvian people have freed you. You are my leader, (the one) who founded the biggest political movement in Peru.”
