Peru-China Friendship Day Celebrations Clarified After Presidential Statement

Celebrations for the Peru-China Friendship Day, scheduled for February 1, 2026, will be held at the Ministry of Culture, not at the Government Palace as previously stated by Peruvian President José Jerí, according to statements from the Chinese Embassy in Peru.

The clarification comes after President Jerí announced the event would take place at the Government Palace. The Chinese Embassy has since confirmed that the central activity commemorating the Peru-China Friendship Day will be held on the esplanade of the Ministry of Culture.

The event is intended to mark the ongoing relationship between Peru, and China. Several news outlets in Peru, including El Comercio Perú, Canal N, and Revista Caretas, reported on the embassy’s announcement.

The Chinese Embassy’s announcement was also shared on Facebook, further disseminating the corrected information
