Pescadoires Blood Drive Sees Strong Turnout Despite Flu Season
Record Attendance at Pescadoires‘ First Blood Drive of the Year
The first blood drive of the year in Pescadoires kicked off with a notable turnout on January 15, bucking the trend of seasonal lulls. A total of 52 donors, including four first-timers, rolled up their sleeves, leading to 44 successful donations.
Dr. Edith François, the on-site physician from Établissement français du sang, attributed the slight dip in numbers to the current grippe and virus circulation. However, she acknowledged that the result was on par with previous years during this period.
Leading the local initiatives is Jean-Louis Bayeurte, who stated that the Amicale des donneurs de sang de la basse vallée du Lot had been proactive in reaching out to potential donors. They conducted info campaigns at supermarkets and markets, set up the EFS equipment, tidied up afterwards, and even prepared a post-donation treat – this time, a galette des rois. The amicale covers two-thirds of the collation costs, with EFS covering the rest.
The amicale’s team is tightly-knit, with Anne-Françoise Lerenard serving as the trésorière, Morgane Duquesne as the secrétaire, and Bruno Lerenard as the secrétaire adjoint. New addition Caroline Souvay, a well-known local tennis coach, has also joined their ranks.
Mark your calendars for the amicale’s upcoming assemblée générale on February 26 at 6 PM, once again at Pescadoires’ salle des fêtes.
