PETA Slams Kim Kardashian’s Kids’ Christmas Gifts
PETA is condemning Kim Kardashian for giving each of her and Kanye West’s children — North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6 — their own puppy for Christmas.
On Christmas, the reality star revealed in her Instagram Stories that she expanded her family by surprising her kiddos with four small Pomeranian puppies, multiple outlets reported.
“Each kid got a puppy,” she wrote alongside a photo of the doggos.
In a separate Dec. 25 Instagram story, the “All’s Fair” star’s older sister Khloé Kardashian shared that she also bought a black Labrador puppy for her kids True, 7, and Tatum, 3, for the holiday.
On Sunday, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) founder Ingrid Newkirk called the Skims co-founder and “Khloé In Wonder Land” podcaster’s furry presents to their little ones a “damn shame” in a statement.
“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,” Newkirk said.
“Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous, and so we ask Kim and Khloe, who did the same thing, to call PETA or a local shelter the next time they want to bring an animal into their home,” Newkirk continued.
The PETA founder also urged the sister duo to “try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis.”
The Kardashian sisters have not publicly addressed PETA’s statement. Representatives for Kim and Khloé did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s requests for comment.
The “American Horror Story” actor’s new pets join her family’s other Pomeranianswhich they’ve seemingly owned since 2019.
