Peyton Richardson Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Peyton Richardson, a fifth-year student from Crystal Lake, Illinois, received the MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week award for the third time in four weeks on November 26. He led the Gusties to victory at the Grace Goblirsch Invite, winning three individual events and finishing second in two others.
Richardson won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.40, the 200 backstroke in 1:57.99, and the 100 butterfly in 50.87 seconds. He also contributed to the Gusties’ second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:11.96. Additionally, Richardson placed second in the 400 IM, finishing in 4:20.55.
His performance helped the Gusties secure a total score of 1457 points, more than double the second-place Johnnies, who scored 727 points. This win keeps the Gustie men’s team unbeaten for the season.
Richardson holds the fastest time in the conference for the 100 butterfly. He also has the top times in the 50 fly (23.85), 200 fly (1:47.17), and 200 IM (1:58.82). This recognition marks his seventh career Athlete of the Week award, with three of those coming this season, the highest in his career.
The Gusties will compete next on December 6 at the Macalester Invite in St. Paul, where they will face MIAC rivals Hamline and St. Olaf.
