Thomas Markle Sr, the 82-year-old father of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has denied allegations that he possessed child abuse material after his son handed storage boxes over to authorities in the Philippines. Philippine interior minister Jonvic Remulla stated that forensic analysis is underway in an ongoing investigation, while mirror.co.uk reported that the suspect dismissed the claims as sick lies.
Thomas Markle Jr Handed Over Storage Boxes to Philippine Police
The investigation began earlier this year when Thomas Markle Jr reported his father to law enforcement in the Philippines. Markle Jr stated he uncovered the material while packing up storage boxes after his father moved out of a property in Cebu. According to claims cited by mirror.co.uk, the surrendered inventory included approximately 80 separate item listings such as computers, DVDs, mobile phones, books, pictures, data cards, film negatives, and videotapes.

Markle Jr told investigators that his father remains in denial despite the evidence he packed into four boxes for the authorities. Philippine interior minister Jonvic Remulla noted that officials are reviewing all angles given the family dynamics involved in the case. Remulla told the Guardian that pending forensic data will take about a week to complete before final findings are released.
Thomas Markle Sr Denies Claims While Admitting Past Prostitution
Thomas Markle Sr has rejected the allegations entirely, labeling them sick lies. While the former Hollywood lighting director denied ever abusing any children under the age of 18, he acknowledged that he paid for sex with prostitutes during his time living in the Philippines. Remulla stated that officials are exercising caution during the forensic examination to verify the nature of the offenses.
Jonvic Remulla stated that right now all signs point to a possible sex offender of the grossest kind, adding that authorities want to be sure before they release the findings and that the forensics data will be complete in a week.
Meghan Markle and Family Cut Contact Following Prior Police Letters
Both Thomas Markle Jr and the Duchess of Sussex are estranged from their father. Meghan Markle cut contact with her father in 2018, and sources close to her indicated she later warned him in a letter that he would never meet his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. That letter was reportedly sent while Markle Sr recovered in a Philippine hospital following a leg amputation.
Prince Harry issued a statement on behalf of his wife noting that she was left deeply distressed by the situation. The statement confirmed that a letter containing troubling allegations was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection in 2018 and subsequently shared with her. Sources close to the inquiry note that the Metropolitan Police are not currently investigating Markle Sr and have not done so previously.
Forensic Results and Remaining Questions in the Philippine Probe
Authorities in the Philippines have not yet determined whether formal charges will be filed against the 82-year-old. Investigators are waiting for the complete forensic data on the surrendered computers, data cards, and video tapes to finish processing. It remains unclear whether law enforcement agencies outside the Philippines will open formal inquiries based on the materials handed over by Markle Jr.
