NEW YORK (May 4, 2025) —⁣ Phoebe ⁣Gates, daughter of Bill Gates, recently spoke about her father’s‌ social interactions adn ​alluded ​to his potential diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome. Her comments came during an appearance on the podcast Call ⁤Her Daddy.

Bill ⁢Gates ‌himself referenced the possibility of being on⁤ the autism spectrum in his⁣ memoirs, Code‍ Source, published ‍in‌ February. “If I was a child ⁢these days, I would⁤ be ‍diagnosed wiht‍ a form of autism,” ⁣he wrote.

Phoebe Gates elaborated ​on this topic during the April 30 podcast, noting ‌her father’s ‍difficulties in social situations.”My‌ father is quite clumsy socially,” she said. “He said he ​had, you know, asperger’s syndrome.” She ‌also shared anecdotes about how her father reacts to⁢ her dating life.”When I bring a boy home, it’s terrifying for him.‌ But ⁣it’s very funny⁣ for me. And I think the boys I invite are really disturbed.”

Awkward Encounters

Phoebe Gates recounted a specific‍ incident from her high school days to illustrate‍ her​ father’s social awkwardness.She recalled ‍a time when⁣ a ‌date invited her to ‍a ⁤school dance.​ Her mother asked ​Bill⁤ Gates to drive them.⁢ During the ride,they stopped at ⁤a fast-food restaurant,where ‌Bill ​Gates mistakenly called her⁢ date by the wrong name.

“I literally wanted to die,” she​ said. However, she added ​that she now ‌finds humor‍ in such situations. “But honestly, ‌I think now,⁢ it ​has become ‌easier for⁤ me… According⁣ to a father’s reaction, that’s⁢ how you ‌know if it will ​be ‌a good guy or not,” suggesting that her father’s opinion of her partners is notable to her.
