MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Oscar Piastri set the ⁢fastest time in the ‌first practice session​ for the Miami Grand‍ Prix on Friday, but a late crash⁢ by Oliver Bearman⁢ brought the session to an early end. ​The session marked the⁤ first on-track action of the ⁢weekend, which is the second Sprint ‌weekend of⁣ the Formula 1‍ season,‌ following Shanghai. The air temperature was warm, with the track surface approaching 104‍ degrees Fahrenheit.

Norris Incident and Red Flag

Piastri finished⁣ the session fastest, followed by Leclerc, Verstappen, and the‌ Williams drivers. Isack Hadjar was an encouraging sixth, ahead ​of Russell. ​yuki Tsunoda, Antonelli, and Fernando Alonso⁤ rounded out the top 10. notably, the Mercedes drivers did not have​ an⁢ chance to run ‍the soft ⁢tires.
