Pierce County, Comcast Team Up to Bring High-Speed Internet to Airport

Exciting news is taking flight in Pierce County, Washington! The county and tech giant Comcast have joined forces to expand fiber broadband, revolutionizing Internet services at Pierce County Airport-Thun Field. Once complete, the airport will have access to Xfinity and Comcast Business services for the very first time.

Nestled in central Pierce County, just five miles from downtown Puyallup and the Washington State Fairgrounds, Pierce County Airport-Thun Field plays a pivotal role as a key transportation hub and emergency services facility. Home to businesses like Spencer Aircraft, SpanaFlight Aviation, Top Gun Bar & Grill, and SIM Flight Center, this investment will significantly enhance their operations.

"Comcast’s collaboration with Pierce County to bring high-speed Internet to the airport is a game-changer," said Councilmember Dave Morell, District 1. "It’s not just about supporting local businesses; it’s about propelling our airport into the future of aviation and introducing new technologies to Pierce County Airport-Thun Field."

This $700,000 project is a result of a public-private partnership, with Pierce County contributing $125,000 in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
