Gasly’s time edged out McLaren’s Lando Norris by a mere seven-thousandths of a second, with Ferrari’s Charles ⁤Leclerc finishing third, just seven-hundredths of a second behind the leader.

Alpine’s ⁤Advantage in the ⁣heat?

The high track temperatures appeared too favor the Alpine team. Gasly’s performance was especially notable, ⁣achieving his fastest time on the soft tire compound. Norris was quickest in ⁤the first sector, Leclerc in the second, and gasly in the final sector.

It ⁤is worth ⁣noting that⁤ Gasly’s Alpine ⁣car was equipped ⁢with a brand ⁤new power unit for this session. This could have contributed to his pace, potentially through the use of a more aggressive engine mode.

Piastri Close Behind, ⁢Verstappen Struggles with Balance

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri ⁤finished fourth, only a⁣ tenth of a second off Gasly’s pace. Norris, though, set his best time on his first attempt, ⁣while Piastri⁢ required two attempts.

Carlos Sainz of ⁣Ferrari‍ expressed ‍satisfaction with his⁤ car’s performance in‍ the high-speed sections of the Jeddah circuit. His teammate,Leclerc, was two positions ahead. George Russell, driving for mercedes, split the Williams cars.

Mercedes Shows Promise on Medium Tires

Russell demonstrated strong pace on the ‍medium-hard tire compound, setting ⁢the fastest time on that particular tire. ‍Piastri, in contrast, struggled to match that pace even on ‍the soft tires.russell noted he found only a few hundredths of a second betterment when switching from the medium to the soft compound, suggesting potential for further gains.

Lewis hamilton⁢ finished⁣ eighth, followed‍ by the Red⁣ Bull duo. Max Verstappen⁢ reported issues with understeer and overall balance in his car.he told his ⁤engineer that he lacked ⁤a good⁢ balance, even when ‍adjustments were suggested late in the session.
