General Medicine Launches Telehealth Marketplace with Amazon Roots

A new digital health care marketplace, General Medicine, has emerged with $32 million in funding and notable ties ⁤to Amazon. ‍The company, billing itself as ⁤a “one-stop ⁣shop ​for expert care,” was‌ co-founded by⁢ former Amazon employees, including the founders of PillPack, which Amazon ‍acquired in 2018.

general Medicine aims to‍ connect patients​ to it’s own telehealth medical practices and‌ to outside care providers. Sunita Mishra, chief medical officer ⁢at Amazon Health Services, advised the company⁢ early on⁣ and ⁣is the physician owner⁣ of ‍one of General⁢ Medicine’s medical‍ practices, both General Medicine⁤ and Mishra confirmed.

Like many telehealth companies, General Medicine partners with medical practices ‌owned by⁣ licensed physicians. The⁤ company stated it began transferring ownership of​ its medical practices to another physician owner, Pallabi Sanyal-Dey, before its launch.
